Michael Solorza
Director of Finance
Director Solorza has been in public service more than 25 years working with various public agencies at all levels of government including a decade of experience at the executive level and seventeen years of municipal finance experience.
His strengths are in budget development and forecasting, financial audits, treasury management. His leadership and mentoring have improved finance functions and performance in Montebello. He leads a Finance Department of twenty employees in the areas of accounting, cashiering, payroll, purchasing, budget, treasury and accounts payable.
Under his leadership the Department received the Government Finance Officers Association “Distinguished Budget Presentation Award” for the first time in the City’s history. He has updated the City’s investment policy, garnering California Municipal Treasurers Association “Investment Policy Certification Award” also for the first time in Montebello’s 100-year history.
Director Solorza has degrees from the University of California, Irvine and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He lives with his wife Julie, a Husky/German Shepherd mix Luna, and two cats named Thelma and Louise.
