The EMS Division is responsible for overseeing all aspects of medical service provided to the community. The goal of the EMS Division is to provide excellent patient care to the citizens we serve. We accomplish this goal by coordinating EMT/Paramedic training and education, quality insurance, maintaining licensure, and compliance with local, county, and state policies. The EMS Division partners with stakeholders, which include UCLA School of Medicine, private ambulance companies, local hospitals, and the Los Angeles Department of Health Services. The EMS Division takes pride in staying current with industry standards of care, identifying state-of-the-art equipment, and exploring various service delivery models to enhance our service to the community. The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division is managed by a team of emergency medical professionals, including one EMS Battalion Chief, one Medical Director (MD), one paramedic coordinator, and one registered nurse educator. These individuals are responsible for paramedic training, certification and equipment, quality improvement, and legal aspects for all basic and advanced emergency medical services. The registered nurse directs EMS continuing education to ensure quality assurance of care and advanced use of medical equipment and technology support.
