Do you have a passion for teaching and a skill to share? We’re looking for enthusiastic instructors to lead recreation classes for our community! Whether you specialize in fitness, arts and crafts, music, dance, sports, technology, or other unique talents, we invite you to bring your expertise to our programs.

As a contract instructor, you'll have the opportunity to inspire and engage participants of all ages while setting your own schedule. Our recreation programs thrive on diverse and dynamic offerings, and we’re always excited to welcome new instructors.

 

Recruitment Information

We are recruiting for year-round programming: fall, winter, spring, and summer sessions. Independent instructors recommend dates, fees, and times of classes – teaching on a weekly basis or as a 1 or 2-day workshop. Instructors will have access to host classes at our recreation facilities at locations throughout Montebello. The Department will help with marketing and promoting classes and workshops through our seasonal newsletters, website, e-newsletter, and social media accounts. 

To submit a proposal, please fill out the below application and submit it to [email protected].  Once the application is received, City staff will contact you to review and discuss.  If accepted, instructors will be required to enter into a Contract Instructor Agreement with the City along with meeting the requirements below.

Contract Instructor Requirements

- Contract instructors must be 18 years or older
- Must provide copies of any certification and/or license. The required certifications and/or license depend on the type of program taught and are determined by the department
- Current AED/CPR/First Aid certifications are also strongly encouraged.
- Must complete and pass a background check (LiveScan) administered by a non-city entity. Any related fees are paid directly by the Contract Instructor.
 -While on City premises, the contractor/provider shall comply with the rules, regulations, and procedures governing the conduct of personnel and the operation of the facility.                            
-Successful proposers are required to attend the first class meeting of all classes advertised in the City's newsletter regardless of the actual number of participants enrolled.
