Growing up in East LA and graduating from Garfield High School class of 1970, Montebello has been my home for more than 40 years. My wife, Carmel, and I have formed many life-long friendships and created beautiful memories while raising our daughter, Monique, in this city. Over the decades we have witnessed Montebello's growth and we also have witnessed its struggles. My Motivation for running for City Treasurer comes form my desire to see Montebello prosper so that future generations can raise their families here and create memories to cherish for a lifetime.
My experience working as a Senior Tax Compliance Representative for the Employment Development Department, State of California, has allowed me to advocate for increased transparency in the employer community for mutual benefit for the employer community. and programs funded by employers and employees. With this knowledge and experience, I will bring over to the position of Treasurer. In addition, I have more than 20 years of experience as a union activist. I have worked with SEIU 1000 and the LA County Federation of Labor holding positions at the local level as president, vice president, Stewart, bargaining representative, and delegate. In addition, I also worked the campaign trail from 2016 to 2022 primary and general elections for local and state-wide candidates.
This experience has given me the knowledge and appreciation for the need to hold government officials accountable for their actions.
