Mayor Peralta immigrated from Mexico to the United States, growing up in Montebello where she was raised by her mother and aunts in a humble working-class household. She broke new ground as the first in her family to graduate from college in the United States, earning a bachelor's degree in Global Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, following her graduation from Schurr High School in the Montebello Unified School District.
In 2017, Mayor Peralta obtained a Master's Degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Irvine. She then honed her skills as a research analyst at El Centro de Investigación y Docencias Económicas in Mexico City. Dedicated to advocacy in the nonprofit sector, she currently serves as a program manager and a key figure in workforce and economic development. Her focus is on fostering a community-led, climate-forward economy in Los Angeles County.
Over the course of a decade, she has actively volunteered, providing assistance to various organizations, including the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, Montebello-Commerce YMCA, Lions Club, and Hearts of Montebello. Formerly serving as a mentor in Montebello's College Bound Today Program, she also co-established the AVID Alumni Fund at Schurr High School, dedicated to raising scholarships for college-bound seniors.
In 2020, Ms. Peralta made her mark as the youngest Latina elected official in Montebello, driving pivotal initiatives in the community. A passionate advocate for woman-owned businesses, she emphasizes open spaces, prioritizes traffic safety, and actively works towards fostering an inclusive community. Alongside these efforts, she champions expanded labor initiatives, leveraging policy to uplift the working-class community through thoughtful and impactful measures. In her free time, she finds joy in cooking and, joined by her loyal canine companions Diego and Apollo, and takes extra long strolls throughout the community.
